On Saturday, I found myself at the KARE11 TV studio, sitting across from Belinda Jenson. She is, by the way, not only an incredibly gifted television personality, she's genuinely nice. I had the flu and was seriously sleep deprived, but Belinda made it all work seamlessly.
Then on to my reading yesterday at Common Good Books in Saint Paul. There were some familiar faces there to greet me, as well as a number of people who learned about the reading from the KARE11 show and made the trip to meet me. It was delightful to be able to share my book with these friends (and new friends).
After the reading was over, I got in my little purple car and headed south. Four hours and three turns later, I found myself in a living room in Des Moines, Iowa, with a glass of wine in my hand, my other hand petting a dog, listening with fascination to the stories of my hosts: Linda and Terry.
Life is good. The road trip has begun. The goal, over the next month, is to travel across the U.S., staying at Airbnb's and meeting their hosts. If all goes well, a podcast will be born.
If the conversations are at all like the one I had last night with Linda and Terry, there is no doubt of it.
