Yep. Definitely do.
In fact, having dogs visit is one of the perks of hosting.
I'm not sure I could handle having these two stay with me permanently. I think that combined, they weigh more than I do. (No comments, please!) However, as guests, they were quite delightful.
There aren't that many places that you can comfortably travel with your dog. I'm glad I can accommodate the travelers who bring their furry friends.
Just over a week ago, I read a Facebook post by a friend and neighbor. She and her husband had returned home from vacation to find that their furnace had stopped working. In the sub-zero weather we had been experiencing, their home got cold enough that their plumbing pipes froze solid... and burst, sending water into the house, turning many areas into a little skating rinks.
I can't imagine.
I invited them to stay at the house, free of charge. After some hesitation (it's a Minnesota thing), they accepted! The deal was that if insurance paid, I would charge my usual rate. If insurance did not pay, I would refund 100% of their money. Within a few hours, my friends, their dogs, and their cats were comfortably housed. They stayed for almost a week, and were able to return to their home a couple of days ago.
Again, glad to have this house! Sometimes I get the feeling that the house has me... It's a good relationship.
